Coaching Opportunities

We are currently looking for coaches with experience and high energy to join our 80 member team.

We seek coaches who will make a commitment to the program and can further develop our 4 year old high school rowing program. Our program runs three seasons. Fall and Spring season practices are held after school from 2:30 to 6:30 pm. Winter training from 2:30 to 4:00 pm. We are serious about developing our program. Both coaches need to be flexible, patient, and excited about working with new rowers and developing experienced rowers. We seek a coach who recognizes that young athletes need to be pushed to perform, but also allowed to have some fun, develop team camaraderie and gain experience through practice and racing.

RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Work with fellow coaches to plan, organize and run daily practices,overseeing trailer loading and organizing races
- Educate rowers on proper rowing technique, racing technique, vocabulary and responsibilities including boat rigging
- Supervise rowers and promote safety on and off the water
- Assist in maintaining equipment
- Travel with team to and from practice and regattas
- Communicate with parents as necessary
- Launch operation
- overseeing trailer loading organizing races

- assist and lead where necessary in team fundraising activities

Coaches must have a CT Boat License and be able to drive a launch.  They will need First Aid and CPR/AED certification. US Rowing Certification (minimum Level II for Head Coach) is a plus and the successful candidate will need to comply with the state of Connecticut Coaching requirements.

Prefer candidates that have earned a BA/BS and have competitive high school or collegiate rowing experience and a minimum of 2+ years coaching experience at the high school, club or collegiate level. Stipend salary per rowing season.
