Welcome to Avon High School Rowing

Our Rowing Program, started in the fall of 2007,  races both Spring Sprints and Fall Head Races. Thanks to the support of the City of Hartford, we have been able to practice at Batterson Park Pond in Farmington, CT.

Rowers participate in fall or spring or both seasons.
        • Fall Season  - focuses on overall conditioning, technique and long distance, competing in 2-3mile Public Regattas.
        • Winter training - includes regional and national indoor erg competitions and core work.
        • Spring - the most competitive novice and Varsity boats attend the Connecticut Public Schools Rowing Association (CPSRA) Regatta.

Winter Activities

The Winter Clinic with Coach Sevick is off to a great start.  Hopefull everyone has found a good way to raise their fitness level for the spring - cross-training to another sport (swim team, indoor track), or simply working out 3 or more times a week on a consistent basis. If you need help/informaion on workout plans email info@avoncrew.org .

Pancake Breakfasts are scheduled for Saturdays February 4th and March 10th form 8-11am  - save the dates and pass the word.   All profits go towards needed crew equipment.  There will also be a collection of non-perishable items for Gifts of Love.
