Communications - (includes website, email, phone tree, photos) keeps FOAR members, students, families, the school community, donors and other supporters and constituents informed about rowing activities and events, plans and accomplishments
Treasurer - facilitates and records revenues, expenditures, and oversees all issues related to managing the budget for the crew operation
Fundraising - operating a rowing team, especially getting a new crew off the ground - can be extremely expensive. Because the crew is supported almost entirely through private funds, fundraising is a very important activity of the Friends of Avon Rowing and of the crew members themselves. All student-athletes, parents, coaches and FOAR members must be directly involved! We raise money from local businesses and individuals, and we sponsor several annual fundraising events including the Ergathon, Rent-A-Rower, and Varsity Gold Card Sales. We are always looking for volunteers to help with fundraising and for creative and effective ways to raise money for the crew.
Equipment - these are volunteers who have carpentry and mechanical skills, and are available to maintain equipment and facilities.
Team Spirit - organizes the common food table for races and regattas, coordinates team uniforms and clothing, and organizes team get-togethers.
It Takes a Village! - (... and More Villagers Needed!)
Like a finely tuned crew - it takes a dedicated team of many volunteers
to ensure the success of a rowing team.
Each role is vitally important and every volunteer contribution is appreciated -
no matter how big or small.
If you can help - or know of others who might be interested in supporting the crew -
please contact us .
Thank you.
