ERG-A-THON  - May 1, 2009

This will be our Spring Season's major fundraiser.  Families are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Come and watch, eat, and cheer on our rowers!

All rowers are expected to participate. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000.  Each rower is expected to raise a minimum of $125. each.  Spring 2009 Sponsor Forms and additional details are available below.

What is the Erg-a-Thon?

An ergometer is a indoor rowing machine used to train the rowers on land.  Avon Crew has 7 new Concept 2 modle D with PM3 monitors.
Overall each athlete will row for 6000 meters.  This will be broken down into 3 races of 2000 meters each. 

• First heats will be by grade and gender.

• Second heats will be by weight - heavy wight, light weight, coxswain.

• Third heats will be a pairs relay.

Awards will be given for

• Highest Fundraiser & 1st over $500

• 2nd Highest fundraiser

• 1st person to raise over $250

• fastest erg times for each gender in each category

The event will begin at 2:30 pm in the Avon High School cafeteria and end by 7:00 pm


Funds raised will be used toward the purchase of equipment for the team. 

• 60' 1000 series low profile Connect-a-Dock ($12,000+)

• 3/4 ton long bed pick up truck ($30,000)

• 9 ergometers ($9000)

Other team needs:

• Insurance for boats - $2500

• Storage racks for oars and boats

• Aluminum 12'-14' launch boat

• TV with DVD player

• Land work circuit equipment - weights and benches
